this was the bottom picture house to most of us but there was a sweet shop further along towards Gallons called Ayton's it was very popular for stopping off on the way to school for a halfpenny prick you took a prod and pricked through a covered hole on a board and depending what colour came up got you some kind of prize, usually a square of toffee or a stick of liquorice
